Frank Whaley:
An Unofficial Homepage

"I'd rather belong to anyone, then belong to the Nazi's like you do" ~Swing Kids~

This web site is dedicated to Frank Whaley, a very talented, yet underrated actor of stage and screen. I became a fan of his after seeing him in "Swing Kids" and although I have yet to see all of his films, I'm still working on it! I hope that his fans will enjoy visiting my site and that those who have never heard of this young man before will get to see what a great actor and person Frank Whaley is. God Bless!!! OH! And please sign the guestbook before you leave.

Born on July 20th, 1963 in Syracuse, New York, Frank Whaley is a talented writer, director, actor, and musician. In fact, he used to be the drummer in a band that he co-founded with his brother called The Niagras. Plus, he played guitar in "Swing Kids." Frank studied theater at the University of New York, Albany in Albany, New York and then earned a BA in theater at The Actors Studio in New York. Although he's done many films, theater is a big part of Frank Whaley's life. He co-founded the now defunct Malaparte Theater Company along with Ethan Hawke and Robert Sean Leonard. Then he co-founded The Naked Angels Theater Company and has performed in at least three of their productions.

His big break came went he got a part in the film "Ironweed," which starred Jack Nicholson and Meryl Streep (not a bad big break if you ask me)! That was followed by roles in films such as "Field of Dreams," "The Freshman," and "Born on the Fourth of July." Now, he has written and directed a movie called "Joe The King," which he will also star in, along side Ethan Hawke, Val Kilmer, Noah Fleiss, John Leguizamo, and Camryn Manheim (ABC's "The Practice").

Frank Whaley has acted with some very well known names, which include Christian Bale, Kevin Spacey, Robert Sean Leonard, Barbara Hershey, Kenneth Branagh, Noah Wyle, Laura Flynn Boyle, Peter Gallagher, Kevin Costner, Danny DeVito, Christian Slater, John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Meg Ryan, Matthew Broderick, and many, many more!

Frank recently starred in the CBS television series "Buddy Faro" which has since been cancelled. Personally, I wasn't a big fan of the show, but it sure was great being able to see Frank on a weekly basis! Frank is such a cutie patootie (as Rosie O'Donnell would say). He is so adorable and even in the most series roles, he makes me laugh. Frank Whaley is a true talent, and this web site is dedicated to him and his fans.

An Interesting Tidbit.....
Here is the origin of Frank's name: It's short for "Francis" and it means "Free." It comes from the Germanic tribe of Franks who called themselves "the free" and later gave their name to France. As a personal name, it originated with St. Francis of Assisi.
